Magazine Style WordPress Themes
WordPress is moving into the arena of Content Management Systems (CMS). There are so many good (premium) magazine style wordpress themes, but there are also several free magazine style WP themes.
Below is a list of free magazine–style themes, be sure to check out some of the great designs and please check each theme for the copyright requirements.
Free Magazine-Style WP Themes
ArtFull theme: Featuring fluid columns in a magazine style, including a custom home php file with the latest post for the desired features at the frontpage.
Options theme: 2 different stylesheets, Dark and Light. There are five sections on the home page layout. From the theme options page, you can choose from 14 different options for each of the sections.
Structure theme: Includes built-in video and image features that easily allow you to customize your site. There are content blocks that you can place virtually anywhere on the page.
Visionary theme: Customized front page to look like a news or magazine site. Sidebar tabbed navigation through the use of a custom jQuery script. Embed YouTube, Google Video, and Metacafe videos easily with Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and more.
Morning After theme: A three-column home page, “Featured” post highlighting, associating images/thumbnails with recent posts, customisable logo/header image and more.
IndoMagz theme: Customizable Home page, gallery style category,custom archives page and more.
Mimbo Magazine theme: A clean, grid-based starter layout for designers, it contains no images and only minimal CSS styling.
Mimbo based BranfordMagazine theme:
Grid Focus theme: A three column theme. Convenient navigation bars can be found at the top and bottom of pages. Category archives are presented via a JavaScript shelf which can be found at the top of the page.
Massive News theme: The fully automated featured article carousel is one of the many premium features of the Massive News WordPress theme. Featured article images, Links and Descriptions can easily be edited through the Massive News control panel within your WordPress installation.
Additional themes:
Zeke theme – a 3-column, widget-ready WordPress theme. It’s built to work with WordPress versions 2.2 and above.
Jello Wala Mello theme – uses the optional excerpt and two custom fields: Thumbnail, and Thumbnail Full (case sensitive).
Forte – a 2 column blog, Magazine & list styled wordPress theme.

Thanks for this excellent resource! I’ve had my eye out for really nice magazine-style themes for a while now, so I’ve seen a few of these before, but most were new (and useful!) to me.

IMHO thumbnails are too small, think users hate to click on every image to get a decent theme preview, also all thumbnails are not the same size … don’t get me wrong … my opinion
Hey, schaut mal auf meinen Blog, dort arbeite ich mit dem BranfordMagazine 1.2 theme. Ist zu Anfang etwas kompliziert, aber dann klappts prima und sieht super aus!

Thanks, this is an excellent resource for free magazine styled themes. I’m still considering what would be best for my football blog at the moment. My guess is probably something clean, like the Options theme, which looks like it will be pretty easy on the eyes for the visitors. =)

I use a mag-styled WP theme that I bought after paying, but this sources has left me tempting to start another bvlog and use one almost premium theme for free. I liked Fake blog and Brandfor Mag. Guys here just rock. Thanks heaps.
